Our town
Kavali sits on Andhra Pradesh's coastal plain, close to the Bay of Bengal and on the main road and rail corridor between Chennai and Visakhapatnam. That location has made it a busy market town for the farming villages and fishing hamlets around it.
Life and livelihoods
Agriculture remains at the heart of the local economy, with paddy and other crops grown across the surrounding mandals. The coast supports fishing communities, and trade, education and services keep the town centre busy. The new port at Ramayapatnam, along the coast to the north, is bringing fresh jobs and investment to the area.
Culture and community
Telugu is the language of everyday life. Sankranti, Ugadi, Dasara, Christmas, Easter, Ramzan and Bakrid are all celebrated here, and festivals at temples, churches and mosques bring the whole town together. Food is a point of pride — from morning tiffins to coastal seafood.
